About Jordan LaMons
Consorting with Jordan is like apprenticing in abstract impressionism under the tutelage of a fuzzy puppy who swears and smokes. Although the puppy may spend an entire day denigrating your choice of brush, blowing smoke in your face, and spewing obscenities–the like of which rival the bawdiness of history’s most contemptible puppies–you readily condone the abuse because, hey, look… a fuzzy puppy. And in the end it doesn’t matter, because when the brushes are finally put away, you and the fuzzy puppy have created art.
What’s truly art to Jordan, aside from Vaughan, is beautiful code. Readable code. Searchable code. Code that traverses desktop and mobile, working seamlessly from browser to browser (yes, even Internet Explorer 6, although you should upgrade immediately). To Jordan, each character in the source of a rock solid site is just as remarkable as each point in Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.
Fortunately, the art snob in Jordan never precludes an ability to make the rest of us understand the benefits of pretty code. Without resorting to acronyms or inside jargon, he gets us excited about the merits of current interactive tools (Drupal six point what?) and emerging technology (OpenID huh?). The same infective enthusiasm he once brought to projects for Southwest Airlines, Rough Creek Lodge and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, he now has made an integral part of HCK2.
